Kristen Anne Bell (born 1980) is a popular American actor and singer. Bell is a Michigan native who was born and fostered by her parents, Lorelei Frygier (a nurse) as well as Tom Bell (a TV news director). She was born in Michigan's Huntington Woods with a Polish mother and father who was German, English Irish, Scottish as well as Irish. Kristen's talents for performing were recognized at an early age. In 1992, she was awarded her first role at the auditions for Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell, who was 13 when her mom signed as an agent was also auditioned for TV and newspaper advertisements. She also started taking private acting classes at the age of 13. Bell had an uncredited role in the film Polish Wedding (1998) in 1998. Bell went to Shrine Catholic High School and was part of music and drama clubs. The Wizard of Oz was staged by her high school and she won the role as Dorothy. Bell studied in musical theater at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts in New York City after graduating. Bell, who graduated in 2001, decided to leave her university studies to perform the role Becky in Tom Sawyer. The same year she appeared in Pootie Tang, but the sequence in which she made an appearance was cut. This meant that the credit sequence is all that exists. Bell appeared alongside Angela Bettis, Liam Neeson, and the Broadway performance of The Crucible in 2002.
